Vacasan® (tulathromycin injection) is a generic equivalent to the brand Draxxin® and is an injectable antibiotic approved for use in beef cattle, non-lactating dairy cattle, and swine.
In beef cattle and non-lactating dairy cattle, Vacasan® is indicated for:
- Treating bovine respiratory disease (BRD)
- Controlling respiratory disease in cattle at high risk for BRD
- Treating infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (IBK)
- Treating bovine foot rot
For suckling calves, dairy calves, and veal calves, Vacasan® is approved specifically for treating BRD.
In swine, Vacasan® is approved for:
- Treating swine respiratory disease (SRD)
- Controlling SRD in groups of pigs where SRD has been diagnosed
Directions for Use
Swine: Inject intramuscularly as a single dose in the neck at a dosage of 2.5 mg/kg (0.25 mL/22 lb) BW. Do not inject more than 2.5 mL per injection site.
Cattle: Inject subcutaneously as a single dose in the neck at a dosage of 2.5 mg/kg (1.1 mL/100 lb) body weight (BW). Do not inject more than 10 mL per injection site.
