ER Bac L5 Gold 50 Dose
ER Bac L5 Gold is a vaccine for healthy breeding swine, designed to help prevent erysipelas caused by Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae and leptospirosis caused by Leptospira canicola, L. grippotyphosa, L. hardjo, L. icterohaemorrhagiae, and L. pomona. Leptospira infections are a common cause of reproductive issues in swine, particularly during the latter half of pregnancy, where they may lead to abortions and stillbirths. The most significant economic impact of leptospirosis is late-term abortions.
How Effective Is It?
ER Bac L5 Gold provides 18 weeks of immunity against erysipelas following vaccination. Its efficacy has been demonstrated through controlled challenge-of-immunity and immunogenicity tests. Field trials involving approximately 1,340 sows and gilts showed no serious systemic or allergic reactions, even with single or multiple doses. The antigens in the vaccine have been chemically inactivated and formulated with two adjuvants, including Amphigen®, to enhance the immune response.
Dosage and Administration
- Shake well before use.
- Administer 2 mL intramuscularly under aseptic conditions.
- Healthy swine should receive two doses three to five weeks apart, with the second dose given two to four weeks before breeding.
- Healthy gilts should receive the second dose as close as possible to 14 days before breeding.
- Revaccination with a single dose is recommended before subsequent breedings.
- Boars should be revaccinated every six months.
How Does It Work?
ER Bac L5 Gold protects against erysipelas and leptospirosis in healthy breeding swine. It provides an 18-week duration of immunity against erysipelas and contains a serum-free, clarified E. rhusiopathiae culture along with whole-cell cultures of the five specified Leptospira serovars.
